Unwanted rating with the mouse

tosca
Is there a way to deactivate the rating with simple clic in thumbnail view?
Quite often, I click on one of the star when I only want to select a picture, and I unvolontarily modify the rating. Problem is there is no 'undo' function, and I have no way to remember what the rating was before the click. Moreover, if there was a filter on the rating, the picture has disappeared from my selection...

I have the same kind of problem with the click 'in' the thumbnail that opens the full view instead of selecting the picture, but at least this doesn't change any picture information.

Unfortunately, when I'm tagging hundreds of pictures, my clicks are not very accurate...

Thanks for your answer.
Marie-Noëlle

Hi,

As a simple user, the only obvious thing to do could be to uncheck the option to display the note of the image in album view, but it's it's probably not what you want to do.

For the ùatter of the one click thumbnail which opens preview, it seems it could depend of your installation... I already have the both behavior single click or double click to open, but I don't exactly know to what that is due... May be there's a set available in whole KDE preferences ?

Hi!

I have experienced the exact same problem and have also accidently grouped and moved photos. And have found it hard to reverse.
A "Read Only" -mode or something similar would have been really, really nice. This is especially wanted to allow the children to browse around the photo collection. Now I don't dare to use it by themselves since I know how easy it is to do modification.

Regards
Anders

It is simply a question of user-rights in that directory.
Open up a account for "fotosharing"

I use Linux and can set accounts for other users and link access to my
files in my directories read-only .

I sure there is also a similar solution for other operating systems,

I often have the grouping/moving problem too. And I'm pretty sure I've lost pictures accidentally when deleting a picture without being aware others were grouped with it! :-(

Hi, I can understand this problem. Both with unintentionally rating and opening.
Personally I like the idea of combination of mouse click and key (e.g. ALT or meta) for changing content. (change e.g. rating) then the simple click would not change the rating.
Not Sure if that way is possible.
Best regards
Christian

Re: Unwanted rating with the mouse

Hi again! Personly I like to have it very simple when editing, then I'm very focused on what I'm doing and I'd like rating etc to be easy accessible.
But when I'm not working, when I browse around looking at pictures, then I would like a padlock that prevents accidently changes.

To log out and in as another user with other privileges to prevent that seem like way to tedious. And that would also require multuple digikam databases, I'll guess. Not a solution for me I'm afraid.

Re: Unwanted rating with the mouse

Personally, I rarely use the rating with mouse click on the desired rating, but I use additional mouse gesture software (easystroke) which associate keyboard shortcuts for ratings, color labels, rotate to right/left, go to next/previous to defined mouse gestures.
