UTF8 vers. latin1 problem in svn version of digikam

krienke
Hello,

recently I compiled the svn (0.9 version ) of digikam on my suse10.0 system.
My system uses the latin1 charset so the LANG environment variable is set to
"de_DE@euro" instead of "de_DE@utf8".

Starting digikam on this system I can see that all german Umlaut characters
are not displayed correctly instead 2 nonesense characters are shown for each
Umlaut, so the strings displayed seem to be in UTF8 encoding.  When I switch
my system completely to UTF8 all is fine, but for other reasons I cannot do
this .

Now I would like to know if there is a way to have the Umlaut charcters in
digikam diplayed in latin1  and not in UTF8?  Is there a simple trick to do
this?

Thanks
Rainer
