Thumbnails view only shows one image after I've saved a new version of an image

New digiKam user. I have an album whose thumbnail I've set to one of the images within. Then I've cropped that image and saved a new version of it. Now that album always shows only that image in the Thumbnails view.

Also, the image history is wrong. Here's what I see:

Obviously the image after "Crop" is not part of the "original image". That's a separate image.
