Thumbnails

maurizio-14
O.S. Ubuntu 9.04, Digikam 1.1.0

As I have relatively large images, PNG 30 MB,thumbnails are slow to
appear. I requested a full generation, it took about four hours of
intense CPU work. At the end thumbnail were still very slow to apper
(one every 2-3 sec) and the thumbnail data base had exactly the same
dimensions as before (1.7 MB).

It seems that only opening one album at a time and letting Digikam to
prepare the thumbnails the database increases and the thumbnails are
effectively created.

Re: Thumbnails

Wilkins, Vern W
I think I mentioned this here or somewhere else before.  I use vacuum on the sql databases (now the thumbnail and regular database), and it always makes a big difference in speed.

Hm, I thought this is a valuable trick, so i wanted to do it also on
my huge databases (140 and 190 MB). But when trying to open the
databases I get the message that they can't be opened. digikam is not
running of course.

Any ideas?

Martin
