Thumbails in Digikam...

David BERCOT
Hi,

I use the 0.8 version under Debian Sid with Gnome 2.10.
When I open my camera, I can see the first image of the film I made.
But, after I have downloaded them, I can only see thumbail of photos,
but not of films !!!
Do you have any idea ?

Thank you very much.

David.

P.S. : Gilles, everything is ok now with my user (I don't need to be
root to download my photos) !

Any cameras cannot give any thumnails from movies item to download. My old

In fact, my problem seems not to come from my camera (Canon PowerShot
A70) because, when Digikam wish me to download photos and films, I can
see a thumbail even for films !!!
But, then, after I had downloaded them, directly into Digikam (into
albums), there are no thumbail for films !!!

Are you using gphoto to download camera items or you use USB mass storage
mount ?

jdd@dodin.org
anyway, with an A70, why not use a cf card reader? I use it
all the time.

We rely on KDE for the thumbnails. Can you check if there is a thumbnail when
you look at the folder in Konqueror?

I believe you need to install something to see them, dont recall what
though ;-)

OK. I understand. In fact, konqueror was not installed on my system ;-)
But with Nautilus, everything is ok ;-)
Then, I installed konqueror and I can see thumbails of photos but not of
videos (like in Digikam). So, I really need something...

Have you any idea ?

Thank you.

OK. To resume how digikam work :

- digikam using gphoto2 to render movie thumbnails from camera.
- digikam using kde API to render movie thumbnails from album.

This is want mean that you have a problem with your KDE. Witch kde/dist
release you use ? konqueror render properly movie thumbnails on your
computer ?
