The QMediaPlayer object does not have a valid service

Mick Sulley

Running Digikam 5.2 with

  • KDE Frameworks 5.18.0
  • Qt 5.5.1 (built against 5.5.1)
  • The xcb windowing system

When I try to view a video I get "An error has occurred with the media player...."

If I start it from terminal I see

digikam.general: Error:  "The QMediaPlayer object does not have a valid service"

Is there some other setup I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks

Mick

Hi,

Under Linux, Qt5!!Multimedia require a valid Gstreamer install, including all video codec. This error is reported at run-time certainly because Gstreamer install is wrong or missing.

gstreamer1.0-x is installed, also many other gstreamer packages, but there are also many that are not installed.  Can you tell me which packages I need to install?
