Hi, digikam supports templates for Caption tags, but unfortunately I did not find a way to copy them into IPTC and XMP automatically. Seems as if I had to fill IPTC and XMP manually. Is there a way to apply these templates to the corresponding IPTC values as well? regards Hadmut _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Use right metadata settings. IPTC and XMP are synchronized together
when it's possible. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/4496985134_3bbc484365_b.jpg Gilles Caulier 2010/4/6 Hadmut Danisch <[hidden email]>: > > Hi, > > digikam supports templates for Caption tags, but unfortunately I did > not find a way to copy them into IPTC and XMP automatically. You go to setup/template, and create your metadata template collection. After that, you can apply it to your image directly. Aperture run like this. It works in the way, that applying a template changes the Caption/Tags, but I don't see these entries in the IPTC or XMP entries. So I still have to enter the IPTC for every single image manually? regards _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

But this was not my question. I am looking for the Link between the digikam templates and IPTC/XMP. I do not yet see how I could fill these IPTC/XMP other then typing it in manually for every single image. Even if I can fill both IPTC and XMP at a time, it still means that I have to enter it manually. regards Hadmut _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

This is how I do it.
1 import images to a folder. 2 Open folder in Digikam. Click on the folder title bar to select all of the new photos. 3 Click on CAPTIONS/TAGS. Click on the INFORMATION tab at the top. Just below the INFORMATION tab select what template you want to use. You will have needed to fill the template out before hand. 4 You should now see the template information in the INFORMATION tab. 5 Click on the APPLY button at the bottom of the window. 6 wait for all the images to get updated. You can see the progress at the bottom of the window. 7 Click on any ONE image then click on METADATA tab on right then on IPTC or XMP tabs on the top to see the IPTC or XMP metadata. It works for for me. If you want to add TAGS like who is in the photo or what it's a photo of then yes you'll need to add them sometimes one image at a time or sometimes you can select several at a time to tag them using the CAPTIONS/TAGS tab. Again this is how I do it. I'm not a professional photographer so this method may not work for you and it may not even be the best way to do it. Good luck! > From: [hidden email] > Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2010 08:35:06 +0200 > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Templates for IPTC & XMP ? > > 2010/4/8 Hadmut Danisch <[hidden email]>: > > Sorry, > > > > but I don't see how this should work: > > > > On Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 09:26:59PM +0200, Gilles Caulier wrote: > >> 2010/4/6 Hadmut Danisch <[hidden email]>: > >> > On Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 03:05:26PM +0200, Gilles Caulier wrote: > >> >> Use right metadata settings. No, IPTC and XMP remain empty here. regards Hadmut _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
When you click on the METADATA tab is there anything under the IPTC or XMP tabs? I have information there like the date of the photo and any tags that I may have given the photo even before I apply the template.
Do you use regular tags and if so do you see them in the METADATA tab? When you click on the METADATA tab there are two icons on the top left. Do you see a change when you click on one or the other of these icons? The only time that I have an empty IPTC and XMP is when I have selected two or more images. > Date: Fri, 9 Apr 2010 23:49:03 +0200 > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Templates for IPTC & XMP ? > > On Fri, Apr 09, 2010 at 05:23:19PM -0400, jim junk wrote: > > > > This is how I do it. > > > > 1 import images to a folder. > > 2 Open folder in Digikam. When having images with pre-set or manually entered IPTC, it changes as expected (one show more, one shows less). When using templates, both remain empty. regards Hadmut _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Well I believe that we've gone through pretty much everything that I can think of to help. I'm running 1.0.0 and the templates work fine with the exception of the copyright fields which for some reason always remain blank. It's probably due to something I don't understand. On my set up the metadata tab sometimes fails to display tags that I've added to an image. You can see the tags in the tags/captions tab and in thumbnail of the image but not in the metadata tab unless I right click and apply the tag and then like a miracle it shows up. Maybe it's some glitch about the tag in the image and not the database or vice versa. Maybe someone else can help you out otherwise if the template feature is important enough to you you might want to try a reinstall of Digikam. Good luck. > Date: Sat, 10 Apr 2010 11:46:42 +0200 > From: [hidden email] > To: [hidden email] > Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Templates for IPTC & XMP ? > > On Fri, Apr 09, 2010 at 07:45:55PM -0400, jim junk wrote: > > > > When you click on the METADATA tab is there anything under the IPTC > > or XMP tabs?
