Synchronize between two computers

Matthias Moeller-2
Hi,

I like digikam very much and I use it both on my laptop and my desktop
computer. Most of the time I take my laptop with me (e.g. on holiday)
and import/sort/postprocess all photos into/with digikam. Back at home,
I would like to synchronize the two "databases" from my laptop and the
desktop computer. How can this be done in the best way?

Many thanks in advance,

Matthias Moeller

If you don't add any comments/ratings/tags etc. you could
just copy the files over (eg. using rsync),
but presumably you would like to have something like
  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103201
  http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125474
(feel free to add your vote ;-).

Another option is to activate the writing of this information
into the IPTC tags and then this information is
used when the files get imported on your desktop computer.
(see http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/82934/from/atom10
, in German;-)

HTH,

Arnd

if you only work on one copy at any time, then just rsync between the
two computers (including the database). thats what i did for the past
years ;-) works just fine...

Since digiKam DB backend is currently rewritten by Marcel, this situation will be simplified in the future. We will add new method to backup/restore/sync DB as well...
