Hello,
I usually browse through my pictures using Left/Right keys and check boxes using mouse in Tags Tree. But if I want to use Left / Right keys again after that I have to click back on a picture first. It slows me down a bit. I have many tags in my library so shortcuts are too complicated to remember. Is there a way to adjust that? Or is there a better workflow to assign tags to your pictures? Thanks, AG |
Hi,
Assign keyboard shortcuts to your favorite tags and just press to key for tagging operations. Hello Gilles,
I use around 30 tags on daily basis and do not think hot keys are an option for me. I am sure I will end up using 5-10 of them and will forget the rest which is not my goal. Is that possible to customize the location of Back/Forward buttons at least? They are in the top left corner of the picture preview right now. I would rather have them in the top righ corner (against the right panel). Andrius,
Have you tried using TAB or SHIFT-TAB to change the active panel. I think you'll find that you can probably click on the tags you want and then return the focus to the preview panel by using 1 or more SHIFT-TABs. (The number of TABs or SHIFT-TABs needed might vary depending on which preview configuration you're using. |

No this cannot be customized. At least, buttons can be hidden. That
all for the moment. Gilles Caulier 2017-05-13 17:46 GMT+02:00 <[hidden email]>: > Hello Gilles, > > I use around 30 tags on daily basis and do not think hot keys are an option > for me. Hi AG,
you might have a look at > https://www.digikam.org/news/2012-01-21_Efficient_photo_tagging_with_digikam/ In this article I have described a few ways, how pictures can be tagged efficiently. Hello Peter, Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Your method A is exactly what I do for people tagging (followed by face tagging in my case). I am not sure I seen the button "tags already assigned" though. Maybe I just have not notice it or maybe it is gone from digiKam 5. The Method B looks like an amazing keyboard only way of tagging pictures. I will definitely give it a shot when I am back in front of my laptop. Again, thanks a ton for sharing! Hello Peter,
I have tried the method but it did not quite work on digikam 5.5.0. I added a comment on the page: https://www.digikam.org/news/2012-01-21_Efficient_photo_tagging_with_digikam/ which started this discussuion on pixls.us: https://discuss.pixls.us/t/efficient-photo-tagging-with-digikam/3768/2 Could you take a look please? Hello bgoodman, Thank you for the tip.SPACE / BACKSPACE and/or PAGE UP / PAGE DOWN switch pictures when I am in the Tag Tree. On Sat, May 13, 2017 at 2:43 PM, bgoodman <[hidden email]> wrote: Andrius, |
I did not know about SPACE/BACKSPACE and PAGEUP/PAGEDOWN. That works much better than what I was suggesting.
PAGEUP/PAGEDOWN seems like a reasonable shortcut. I am surprised at the operation of SPACE. On Windows that would normally toggle the checkbox of the item you have selected in the tag window. I just checked and it does change the thumbnail selection as you describe. This seems more like a bug to me because I would prefer to be able to use SPACE and UPARROW/DOWNARROW to select tag items. |

Hi AG,
I am here on Debian Jessie with digiKam 4.4.0. So I can't say much about digiKam 5.5.0. Sorry. Maybe someone else, already using digiKam 5.5.0, can have a look?
