Suggestion/request for renaming files

Mark Ovens-2
Hi,

It would be very useful if digikam allowed you to rename files based on
the original filename.

For example, when I resize photos for the web I use the original
filename with 's' appended, e.g. img_0188.jpg -> img_0188s.jpg

So, in Batch->Rename (and ideally in other Batch operations that also
support renaming, such as Resize) it would be useful if there was a
special parameter to represent the original name, for example %n so, in
the above example the target name would be %ns

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

in the rename dialog, such an option exists - just switch on 'add original file
name' (or similar, I use the german translation). This will rename your
pictures according to

img_0188.jpg -> img_0188_01.jpg
img_0189.jpg -> img_0188_02.jpg
...

if you write nothing on the prefix line. Names like

img_0188.jpg -> web--img_0188_01.jpg
img_0189.jpg -> web--img_0188_02.jpg
...

result if you put "web--" in the prefix line.

What seems to be a bug, however, is that the renaming dialog by default
chooses the ordering opposite to the one chosen in the digikam window.

Best regards,
Gandalf
