I am a new user to Digikam and
very determined to find photo-management software on Linux that can satisfy my needs, if by any means at all possible, to avoid moving to non-linux / proprietary commercial software. If so, I will be a die-hard, tirelessly evangelizing proponent of said software, whatever it turns out to be. =) Right now Digikam seems to be entirely the best and most powerful tool, and I would happily switch to it from F-spot despite F-spot's increasingly powerful and intuitive interface, + GNOME integration, but for one (*crucial!*) feature is still obscure to me which definitely already exists in F-Spot:
Versioning of imagesI've researched and seen discussion about this feature, such as in
this tantalizing blog post on June 17th by Martin Klapatek, but I have not found this feature within digikam documentation nor in the interface.
The feature in question is the ability to select and group multiple edits of one image as "versions", which is utterly crucial for serious digital photographers and others, particularly as relates to combining RAW images with JPEG/PNG exports. As I already have a library of images with multiple versions, it would be important to be able to retroactively select edits and link them to their "original".
Can anyone enlighten me on the state of progress with this feature, and whether it has yet been implemented?
Please say it's already implemented!
