Some images not showing up in album

Eru Steiner
Hello all

{Sorry, for posting twice, seems not to be a good idea to press reply and delete everything in the email...}

I have some very strange effect in digikam 3.3.0 (linux).
Let's say I have an album ALBUM1 with many images IMG1 IMG2 IMG3...
For no reason digikam is not showing e.g. IMG2.
I did several restarts, even started deleting everything in some tables:

delete from imagerelations;
delete from imagetags where tagid in (4, 5, 6, 7); #these are the internal tags for version stuff
delete from imagehistory;

nothing helped. I also opened the image with gimp to see if the file is corrupted, but gimp had no problem with it.

Then did some copying around on the shell:

mkdir ALBUM2
cp ALBUM1/IMG1 ALBUM2 # shows up in digikam
cp ALBUM1/IMG2 ALBUM2 # shows *not* up

hmm, then

cp ALBUM1/IMG1 ALBUM2/IMG2 # IMG2 shows up but of course it contains the other image

cp ALBUM1/IMG2 ALBUM2/IMG2 # *now IMG2 shows up with the proper content*

cp ALBUM2/IMG2 ALBUM1/IMG2 # *now also in original directory IMG2 shows up!!!*

How can this happen?
Btw. those images were originaly created using the batch queue manager.

Thanks for some advice
Regards
Eru

If I remember well, Batch manager use versioning if it's set.

Did you check which kind of versioned Digikam displays and which kind is
hidden ?

I have this matter before, and I have to set this to see all my pictures
back.

Re: Some images not showing up in album

I had enabled to show all versions, but this doesn't help. It must be something else.

I reprocessed the whole batch (around 500 images) into a new target directory and I have
again the same effect, 4 images just don't show up. I also noticed that the existing Tags are usually
assigned to the new images, but for about 40 images there were no Tags

Regards
Eru

I also experience problems while using face detection/recognition. I
am not really sure, but I have a clue that the sqlite-database used by
libkface (it is located in
.kde4/share/apps/libkface/database/recognition.db) might be
responsible for this. libkface stores its training data there. When
digikam crashes while tagging faces the data seems to be rebuilt
within the same database when digikam is run the next time - the
database doubles its file size. So, from time to time I delete it and
I rebuild the training data again by choosing the corresponding option
within digikam.

Currently, I am facing another strange behaviour - whenever I choose
the face detection/recognition pane digikam becomes incredibly slow.
htop then tells me that there is one digikam thread consuming 100% cpu
on one core. But up to now, I did not have time to have a closer look
here.
