Slow download workaround

Alan Barnett
I can't use digikam to download images from my camera because it's much
too slow.  I did successfully download the images using gphoto2; I was
able to see them in digikam, but the GPS tags were not included.  I'd
like to use digikam's GPS functions.  Does anyone know a program I can
use to download images and all the metadata from my camera (a Nikon
D3100) in a format that digikam can read?

The gps tags were included; I'm new to digikam and I wasn't looking in
the right place.
