Sequence number reset on date change during import?

Tom Cunningham-2
Is there any way to reset the sequence number whenever the date changes during import?  It would be analogous to the established behavior of creating a new folder for all pictures taken on a certain date.

I do not understand what you are asking or suggesting, can you elaborate please

All is working now, EXCEPT, any additions and/or changes to the folder that has the photo files in, do not update when Digikam starts even though I do have the setting ticked to update

Yes, if I import a group of photos taken over several days, digiKam will put the photos in separate folders, with the folder name being the date when the photos in that folder were taken.  If a sequence number is used in the photo file name, it increments across folders:

Folder: 2017-03-13, Files: 03-13-001, 03-13-002, 03-13-003

Folder: 2017-03-15, Files: 03-15-004, 03-15-005, 03-15-006

I would like the sequence numbers to reset when the folder changes:

Folder: 2017-03-13, Files: 03-13-001, 03-13-002, 03-13-003

Folder: 2017-03-15, Files: 03-15-001, 03-15-002, 03-15-003

Is that possible today with digiKam 5.5?
