Dear digiKam developers,
Your software is excellent and it's a pleasure to use it. On the user mailing list, I already asked to no success, whether there is the possibility to search a selection of all IPTC metadata fields for the photos in an album. As far as I can see, the advanced search is restricted to the IPTC fields "Caption", "Author", "Headline" and "Title". Is there a certain reason why digiKam lacks the ability to search the other fields like for example "Sublocation" or "Copyright"? Would the implementation of this feature cause many difficulties? Although it has its own problems with other features, Apple's Aperture does for example offer this type of search. Kind regards, Julia _______________________________________________ Digikam-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-devel |

Hi Julia,
Because it's not yet implemented : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=180268 digiKam project is not like Apple or Adobe softwares. We don't have 50 engineers working in the background (:=)))... Gilles, how hard is to implement this? If already few fields are already implemented, it will be hard for my students add some extra?
maybe i could propose this task to my students...

Veaceslav,
it's not too hard in fact. I will post some pointers from source code into bugzilla entry... Gilles Caulier 2012/2/10 Veaceslav Munteanu <[hidden email]>: > Gilles, how hard is to implement this?
