I can confirm similar problems: when moving amount of images (all selected after scrolling) from one location to another, "ghosts" icons appeared a bit and then disappeared not so instantaneously or similar behaviour that recall me some memory shortings. Don't know really if it is an issue memory related but it could be.

How many images do you have in your folders?
I tested a folder with 200 images and could not reproduce any error with the thumbnails. The number of images does not matter much AFAICT, as long as there are
enough to scroll a few up and down. I just reproduced it in a directory with 56 pictures in it. See the screenshot http://elfringham.co.uk/plogger/index.php?level=picture&id=28 The corrupted display is in fact showing portions of pictures from the previous directory that I was viewing. If I hover the mouse over the corrupted display then it is redrawn correctly. Correct display http://elfringham.co.uk/plogger/index.php?level=picture&id=29 Andrew On 30/04/12 21:09, Peter Albrecht wrote: > How many images do you have in your folders? > > I tested a folder with 200 images and could not reproduce > any error with the thumbnails. > > On 28.04.2012 06:16, Antonio Trincone wrote: >> I can confirm similar problems: when moving amount of images (all selected >> after scrolling) from one location to another, "ghosts" icons appeared a >> bit and then disappeared not so instantaneously or similar behaviour that >> recall me some memory shortings. Hi Andrew,
what graphic card and driver do you use? I have an integrated Intel G45. Maybe this could be the important difference. Since I can't reproduce this bug with my digiKam 2.5.0 installation. But this is only a guess. For me it's not generally a big problem, more a little annoyance, though I have had a time where it just crazily filled random image rectangles with their images then reverted to empty rectangles while filling another image rectangle, on and on seemingly at random amongst the image rectangles visible on the screen. -- John Stumbles http://stumbles.org.uk :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-: _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

The card is an AMD Radeon HD 5450 using the radeon driver from Debian
testing. It certainly could be the video driver as this bug has been around for a while. It does not bother me too much as I just wave my mouse over the photos to get a redraw. I had sort of assumed that it was due to my use of Gnome while running a kde application. Hundreds of images like you. And my card is GeoForce, not easy to remember any detail.

Hi,
I also have this problem and it seems to have become worse over the last 6 months, apparently after upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 to 11.10. As I have a number of other weird issues appear after this upgrade that seemed kernel based (e.g. excessive iowait problems caused by disk journaling) I chalked it up to a kernal upgrade and have been waiting for the latest kernels to be released with 12.04. Several updates have now flowed through but the problem is still present. I run... Ubuntu 11.10 + XFCE (although the problem appears in the Unity and Gnome Classic Desktops). I have a nVidia Corporation G84 [GeForce 8600 GT] (rev a1). Running dual monitors. I tried a search, got 70 pictures in ~15 folders but still
can't reproduce the bug. I tried scrolling with the mouse wheel, the scrollbar slider and the scrollbar buttons. Has anyone installed GNOME _and_ KDE desktop? To test whether the desktop environment might be the culpriT? Self compiled DK 2.5.0. Could not reproduce it. 2) laptop with Intel GM45 with integrated graphics running Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity and DK 2.5.0 from Ubuntu. I have a NVIDIA video board and I had that problem of garbled display, but not only with Digikam, other graphic applications produced similar dirty behaviours (e.g. Dolphin, Firefox). I replaced the « Nouveau » video driver that comes with Linux distros to support NVIDIA hardware by the proprietary NVIDIA driver for Linux/Xorg, downloaded from NVIDIA web site. All graphic displays are perfect now, Digikam and others. I didn't investigate much, but from I could see, I suspect an incorrect implementation of X11 backingstore/saveunder functionnalities, in the Nouveau driver. Don't know if this could help but I'll suggest to users having that display problem with a NVIDIA board to install the proprietary driver. It takes one minute, and the NVIDIA installer backups the Xorg configuration file, so it's possible to switch back to previous configuration if the result isn't satisfying. Regards, Jean-François PS: I run OpenSUSE & KDE, but in my case the problem really looked like a X11/Xorg problem, not an O.S. or Deskop related problem. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
