Hi digikam users,
today I wanted to add a remote collection to digikam (1.0 svn). Optimistically I navigated to a sftp connection stored under "network", was asked for the password, but then received an error claiming that the adress does not exist. However, using dolphin I can navigate to this remote album, view thumbnails and pictures. I am not sure if accessing remote albums via (s)ftp is not yet possible with the current implementation of digikam or if this is a bug. Could someone please clarify this? I am using ssh and fuse to access remote albums.
This might be an option for you. Anything only available through KDE like fish:// does not work (we would have to download each file each time) _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

I don't know this fuse thing, but I'll have a look. Fuse is very easy to install/setup see http://fuse.sourceforge.net/sshfs.html
If you are on Ubuntu here is your starter for 10 sudo apt-get install sshfs Bo > From: Gandalf Lechner [[hidden email]] > Sent: 2009-06-22 10:25:55 MEST > To: digiKam - Home Manage your photographs as a professional with the power\ of open source [[hidden email]] > Subject: Re: [Digikam-users] Remote album via ssh / ftp ? > > I don't know this fuse thing, but I'll > have a look. > > Thanks, > Gandalf > > > _______________________________________________ > > Digikam-users mailing list > > [hidden email] > > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users > _______________________________________________ > Digikam-users mailing list > [hidden email] > https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users > _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

Digikam found the collection via sshfs and I can see the images and move them around as expected. However, also here I experience the strange problem I wrote about earlier: When editing pictures in the ssh collection, I cannot save the results afterwards, there is always the error "failed to overwrite original file" and I have to discard the changes. But I can edit and save if I copy the image to a local collection first. Afterwards, I can also copy the edited image back to the ssh collection, so it's neither a problem with the image file nor with write permissions for the ssh collection. This specific behaviour I found using digikam 0.10 on opensuse, but similar problems (also with local collections) I saw on a 1.0 svn on kubuntu as well. Has anybody else experienced this problem or even a clue how to fix it?
