"Rebuild Thumbnails" Bug

I've scoured the internet and asked on IRC several times, and still haven't
found the answer. This problem has been plaging me since Digikam 2.4, though now I've upgraded to 2.7 in hopes the problem is resolved. When I start digikam all my thumbnails are blank. So I click on maintenance > [x] rebuild thumbnails > OK. Then digikam hangs. It shows no dialog, the progress box down at the bottom says "No active process" : it's just frozen. When I try to click on menus KDE crashes and restarts. I did read the FAQ http://digikam.org/drupal/node/39 , but this seems very outdated since kcontrol hasn't been around since kde 3. Any ideas? So is this problem still present with Digikam 2.7.0?

Yes, it's still a bug in 2.7. I've come across another bug, too, that's been with me since about 2.4 and is still with me in 2.7. When I'm in the editor and I export an image an editing (from NEF to PNG or any other format), the saving process reaches 99% and then freezes. This is reporducible 100% of the time. Then I have to force close and restart Digikam. When I do I find my edited picture was saved. In all instances I still don't see the thumbnail, though I do see the NEF image preview and the full-size NEF. Thank you. If I find what's wrong, I think I'd like to take part and fix it.

I upgrade on July 9 from 2.6.0 to 2.7.0 and i would say that it makes a few days than digikam starting get blank thumbnails. I bang my head how to solve that, as rebuild is also hanging/need to kill. any ideas how to be back normal ? drop/delete all thumbnails db ? Thanks a lot. Probably best to file these as bugs at bugs.kde.org in order to get some
attention from the developers. I suspect that you have a broken binary compatibility problem with some kde library or other. It seems that your ioslaves are not working correctly.
