If DGK = Digikam you are right. There are also many options.
I think Digikam uses KRename (with Linux and KDE) and I personally find
it simpler manipulating the file names in KRename. Especially combining
parts of file names to new ones is very easy.
I also usually rename files even before opening them in Digikam for the
first time, so Digikam's database has fewer chances of getting confused.
