Re: Digikam-users Digest, Vol 92, Issue 2

Well JDD,
Thanks for reminding me of basics #1 : I should have read the manual (and I can now hand it over to my son for I recovered it).
However, all that applies to Windows based
computer with the Canon software installed. I use Ubuntu, KDE flavor (a Linux distribution).
For those people like me, in the end I used gphoto2 file transfer and digikam turned the folder into an album. I'll just leave it at that and that may be the only solution instead of an import via Digikam. Less elegant but straightforward.
Thanks for your help

sorry first mail sent before writing :-(

I beg you read the manual page 147, specially when it say to have the
setup in the "read" position then switch on?

else there is a "direct transfer" option p152 (never used such thing)

page 154 there is a note about downloading images to a computer
without special software that should work, but may you already tried it

page numbers are found on french version of the manual, may be the
nuber is diffeent on your one

hope this help

It is of course also possible to use a card reader and transfer the

images directly from the memory card outside the camera. The card is then

seen as an external removable drive.

This is actually my preferred strategy, also because I use several cards

in rotation.
