Re: DigiKam cannot find camera

Fabio
I think the issue here is that you camera is being mounted as a storage
device rather than a camera.

When connecting, don't select "Open in folder" view (I think that is
what it is called). Tell Windows to mount as a camera and point to
digikam, or don't do anything then try and mount via digikam.

->
I connect the camera D5000 and the driver automatically opens the Nikon manager (?? not sure what is the proper name) .. here is a picture. note the path is not a  folder bu the device:

Whe looking at the File manager this is what I see. Note it is not under the Storage section but under portable devices:

I tried also with a Nikon D70 and this time it does not open the Nikong  manager but the default Autoplay  window. I closed it with no option selected. Still it does not recognize it.

I tried creating a shortcut into a folder and configure it as a mounted device but it does not recognize the "folder".

In both cases, there is no option for me to select DigiKam as a program to open import pictures. I tried the autoplay options in control panel but the only options are Drop box  and windows default.

Thanks

Hi All,

I am new user of digikam. I just installed Version 3.1.0, Using KDE Development Platform 4.10.2. on Windows 7 ( I know... not the best OS but this is what I have).

I connected a Nikon D5000 via USB. Windows does recognize it. I go to DigiKam > Import > Cameras > NikonD500 (I created this entry) I get "Failed to connect to camera"
The nikon D500 entry has:
Camera Port type: USB

Tried without/with setting the mount path (I know it is not applicable) but nothing.
Tried using the memory card into but it cannot get read the images (I can read the images from windows though)

I found in google few bugs for unix but nothing in windows.

Thanks for your help!
