Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Philip Johnsson
Cerp, your Fujifilm camera should work with the latest update now and the updated lensfun should also help you to correct more of your lenses if you use it for lens correction... :)

Dear Philip,

First of all thank for the amazing work you have done on the PPA.

I have some difficulties because, as others, I use a Fuji XT1 with XTRANS sensor, hence I need to keep up with updates on libraw.

I am wondering whether it would be worth to have a big package with all dependencies updated, but all the other standard media packages use the standard libraries.

Would that be possible?

I hope to see more Exiv2 releases in the future. 2/3 month with bugfixes

1. Thanks, I really appreciate your time and hard work spent on it.
2. Personally, I have had an 'interruption' in my current use DK
because libraw in Ubuntu is so old and doesn't support newer cameras
especially the X-Trans from Fuji.

I would prefer: "updated dependency packages as possible"

Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Philip Johnsson
I just uploaded Digikam 4.12.0 to my PPA and just want to inform that I can't support builds for Ubuntu 14.10 (utopic) anymore as that Ubuntu release have reached official end of life and is no longer supported for new builds on Launchpad. Builds and packages of digikam are available for 14.04 (trusty) and 15.04 (vivid) on my PPA.

Happy digikaming!

/Philip

Hmmm thanks for the info...then I have to upgrade to 15.04 first, but on my virtual machine (Kubuntu 15.04) I am missing the themes and themes configuration doesn't seem to work. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Don't know anymore what else stopped me (brought me back to 14.10) from upgrading to 15.04, so I'll have to give it another shot I guess since support is over...

THanks for all the work!

Cheers,

Sjoerd

Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Philip Johnsson

Hi Sjoerd

I also still use 14.10 but from last week it reached end of life and will not receive any new updates from Ubuntu or support so new security issues etc will not be fixed from Ubuntu. It's not my decision but part of the Ubuntu maintainance and release plan. I will also have to upgrade to 15.05 soon but haven't had the time to make the effort.

Regards,

Philip

Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Sjoerd-2

Hi Philip,

I didn't blame you for not supporting 14.10 anymore, just in case you thought ;)

Anyway I just upgraded to Kubuntu 15.04 (15.05 is new for me? ;) )and can't say I am overjoyed...The upgrade went OK I guess, but Digikam is too bright, but maybe I can try to get the old themes back, since now I only have "default" and "breeze" which both are to bright to my liking.

Let's see if I can encounter again why I preferred Kubuntu 14.10 in the past.

Cheers,

Sjoerd

I am on Ubuntu 15.04 too, it's true it's not nice to loose theme configuration (if any know why ?), but you probably could install another ones, since I have other theme to choose in Digikam.

Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Philip Johnsson
The old standard kde color schemes are found in the plasma-desktop-data package in ubuntu 15.04 (vivid). Install it and you'll get back some familiar ones to choose from in digikam. You can also find a bunch of 3rd party color schemes at kde-look.org to install locally or system wide for your user(s):

Re: Question to users of my PPA with Digikam for Ubuntu.

Sjoerd-2
In reply to this post by Philip Johnsson

Doesn't seem to work for me...the package is installed (default on kubuntu 15.04), but only the default or breeze theme are available in digikam. My desktop is set to use the theme Breeze dark and digikam show up bright.

The links you gave point to kde 4 schemes. Don't know if they would work well with plasma 5.x. Installing another theme (and setting the desktop to it) via the kde-settings doesn't change it a bit in digikam?

I guess I shouldn't have upgraded yet :(

Cheers,

Sjoerd

Just to let you know....I reverted back to Kubuntu 14.04 LTS since plasma
doesn't seem to like my nvidia card (suspend/resume gives me an unusable
screen from time to time) and other cosmetic thing that I am not so fond
about. It doesn't look/feel as a ready to use desktop yet to me. Some things I
do like though, but so far the only thing I will miss in 14.04 is the power
measurements from 15.04, but I was not planning to look at that info every
second ;)

Cheers,
Sjoerd
