Problems with Render Printing.

Ian McCarthy-2
I am attempting to print a number of pictures and Print creator keeps on
saying Printing process aborted.
I have selected a number of pictures onto the light table, I have then
selected the tool
Tools -> Print Creator to create a list.

when I use Print Creator it says

say gimp-2.8.exe is ok

I selected print to pdf, and 8 photos, I have tried other photo options,
makes no difference, I leave the ordering as is, although I can create a
list, load a list, make a new list, save a list that all works.

Caption Type: have tried, Item Comments and No Caption - makes no
difference.

I go through the windows to select the clipped items, I hit next and it
says (see below)
or I say do not crop when it works its way upto 100% and then crashes
with the same message.

Starting to pre-process files...
38 Items to process
Printing process aborted...

What am I getting wrong
I have loaded the latest version of Gimp 2.8.22 this has made no difference.

I am using Digikam 5.7.0

Try to use current 5.8.0 pre release install bundle instead 5.7.0 :

I've attempted to create a log file I hope this helps.
I.ve placed it here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ytrxzhld5oeec2o/ALDEN-IDM.v2LOG.LOG?dl=0

Do I have to set things up to do with a printer somewhere?

Thank you for that Giles, unfortunately its made no difference, loaded my pictures set no crop, and they clicked next. It took about 20secs to process the 107 pictures onto 4 sheets,  got to 100% then it said  printing process aborted.
Is there any diagnostics I can provide?

I have successfully exported a single image to a pdf file using Gimp manually.

I think the problem is here :

00000589 89.40785217	[8252] digikam.general: Using 8 CPU core to run threads
00000590 89.40967560	[8252] digikam.general: Action Thread run 1 new jobs

00000592 89.41108704	[8252] digikam.general: Prepare to print is done
00000593 89.41223907	[8252] digikam.general: Margins before print dialog: left 0 right 0 top 0 bottom 0
00000594 89.41232300	[8252] digikam.general: (1) paper page 0 size QSizeF(210, 297)
00000595 89.41243744	[8252] QPrintDialog: Cannot be used on non-native printers

It prepare the printing final job, but the paper size is not accepted by QPrint engine. I do now why...
To confirm, just try to print one or two images with another set of paper size.

Re: Problems with Render Printing.

Ian McCarthy
There within maybe lies the problem.
on the select Page Layout when selecting Print to PFD, Print to Image file, and Print to Gimp the Page settings button does nothing. When selecting my printers which follow on in the list I get a pop up window Page Setup which sets paper source orientation and Margins.
I maybe would expect it to ask about a filename as well.

Re: Problems with Render Printing.

Ian McCarthy-2
In reply to this post by Gilles Caulier-4
May be more interesting. The first three printers are
Print to PFD
Print to Image File
Print to Gimp

then follows the printers on my system including CutePDF Writer
If I use this it all nearly works,  seems to get the selection of the number of images on the page wrong, reverts to the first one in the list. But the captions appear and it writes it to a file.
If  I select any of the first three printers however when one clicks on the page settings button, nothing appears.

Hope this is helpful.
