So compiling shouldn't be a problem, just use the prefix /usr/lib/kde4 and
everything should work fine, if it compiles in your homefolder it will also install system wide. I did install with DIGIKAMKDE4=/usr/lib/kde4 and it installed fine (with the imlib problem that you are aware of). Now I see the thumbnails in the main window as they should be. Thanks! Note that the although the thumbnails do display, the pictures in View mode do not! I will try to determine if this is another simple error of mine, or if this is a bug in Digikam. It may be related to the fact that Digikam crashed on the first load. I saved the output of the crash, but as I am installing in an unconventional manner I don't think that a bug report will help anybody. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. I can see all images in view mode so it shouldn't be a bug. Maybe the thumbbar
slider widget problem is what is bothering you now. The easiest way to solve this would be to remove the digikamrc file in your kde homefolder and restart digiKam. If still no image is shown, you have to check your system again :-) Andi On Sunday 27 July 2008 19:51:57 Dotan Cohen wrote: > 2008/7/27 Andi Clemens <[hidden email]>: > > So compiling shouldn't be a problem, just use the prefix /usr/lib/kde4 > > and everything should work fine, if it compiles in your homefolder it > > will also install system wide. > > > > Andi > > Ah, but I had to come to that conclusion myself! > > I did install with DIGIKAMKDE4=/usr/lib/kde4 and it installed fine > (with the imlib problem that you are aware of). I'm also experiencing other bugs, such as filters not working. The filter preview goes from 0% to 100%, then after a milisecond of seeing the preview the bar goes back to 0% and works it's way back up, ad infinitum. Can you confirm that this is not the case with your current SVN build? I may have botched something real bad here, though I cannot imagine what as this is almost a clean install. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Filter previews are not working correct at the moment, we have to look over
code here. But the filters work in general, so this jumping from 0%-100% and back can not be confirmed here. I can't see the preview in many filters, but this is a different issue. Endless rendering cycles as you described them are not noticeable here. What filters have you tried? This occurs with these filters: Blur Effects, Charcoal Drawing, Emboss, Add film grain, Add Film Grain, Infrared Film, and Oil Paint. Note that the Distortion Effects and Raindrops filters have no preview, so they are not affected and work fine. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il א-ב-ג-ד-ה-ו-ז-ח-ט-י-ך-כ-ל-ם-מ-ן-נ-ס-ע-ף-פ-ץ-צ-ק-ר-ש-ת A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Can't confirm this. All CtrlPanelDlg-Filters (Blur Effects, Charcoal Drawing,
Emboss, Add film grain, Add Film Grain, Infrared Film, and Oil Paint) work fine here and all ImageGuideDlg filters ( Distortion Effects and Raindrops filters etc) do work fine, too, but as you mentioned now preview is shown in these filters. But they render fine and charcoal etc also work fine in preview mode here. Though to be honest, I have no idea in which direction to proceed and I'm turning up nothing in Google. You don't need to waste your time on this, though. Tomorrow I will reinstall the OS again and build Digikam the right way hopefully the first time. I might install Mandriva as that's what Gilles uses.
