Hello,
I installed digiKam 5 from Philip's PPA on Xubuntu 16.04, and everything seems to work fine with one exception. The Perspective Adjustment tool is very unresponsive to the point of being unusable. When I drag a corner handle, it takes the application literally several second to make the adjustment. Does anyone else have the same issue? Thanks for your replies, guys! This is really strange. Any ideas what

I just tested the perspective tool here too and it's a bit sluggish here also. Not as you described but it's not fluent. Wonder what libraries the tool is dependent on so the problem comes from might come from openmp or some other library that helps the tool for its feature? /PhilipOn Thu, Jul 21, 2016 at 4:29 PM, Dmitri Popov <[hidden email]> wrote: Thanks for your replies, guys! Aslo found out that it's the preview drawing while moving that is the problem and not the change of perspective calculation. I'm not sure if it's the QT5 library that handle the preview drawing or any other libs to trouble shoot. Phillips, Perspective do not use specific library. It certainly a video driver problem or something like that. Gilles Caulier 2016-07-21 20:47 GMT+02:00 Philip Johnsson <[hidden email]>:

I'm just thinking out loud here: if this is a video driver problem,
why then does the tool work fine in digiKam 4.14 but not in digiKam 5.0.0? 4.x => Qt4 5.x => Qt5 This want mean Qt5 do not use same compilation rules than Qt4 about Widgets and X11 interaction. Dmitri, Are you using a nvidia video card as I do? I just tested to change to the open source nouveau driver instead and with this driver the preview drawing with perspective adjustment doesn't lag like it do with the nvidia propriety driver. Too bad the nouveau isn't as good in other regards that I want to use it but I guess that suggests that the problem is related to QT5, OpenGL and/or video drivers and not Digikam itself. On Fri, Jul 22, 2016 at 3:01 PM, Dmitri Popov <[hidden email]> wrote: I see. Indeed, I use nVidia card with the nVidia driver. I switched to
Nouveau, and it helped. The action is still not fluid, but usable. Thanks, Philip!
