Hello. I used different programs before, and currently my photos are being
situated in several directories, with a lot of duplicates and empty files. I decided to get rid of mess with a help of Digikam. Firstly, how to move photos to single place with an inner structure like "year/month/day/"? I only found how to add an existing directory as a new collection. All my photos contain EXIF info about a date. Secondly, how to automatically remove duplicates? Yes, it's very simple to find them, but I didn't find an easy way to delete them. Finally, I heard about non-destructive editing in Digikam. How to use it? If it's not available, it is possible to save original version of photo and edit it's copy? Sorry if I made any spelling errors :) _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

All my photos contain EXIF info about a date. I personally would use exiftool to organize photos into directories. Digikam should find out them during the startup album scan. Perhaps iot is possible to do the rename with digikam batch rename tool also, but I do not have experience with it. >> Finally, I heard about non-destructive editing in Digikam. How to use it? But did You have some problems with this "save a copy & edit" approach? (Or why it is a question?) Hi Aleksuk,
You can use the simple Import Images wizard, try to type Ctrl+I. You have a lot of folder with pictures over your disk. If you set your picture collection in a empty folder, you can just import the images using the wizard and perform some tasks while are import to do the things that you want. - Open Digikam and press Ctrl+I - Choose the folder where the pictures that you want to import are At this moment you are at the Import Images wizard - Lookt at the right panel configurations, and set how digikam will rename your files, how DK will create the folders and subfolders using exif information and go. Others operations are allowed for .jpg files too. DK will copy the files and put them at your collection folder using the rules that you set up. So, I think that this solve your problem.
