Hi list,
I would like to share my photos with friends and family (only private access), some for the public. So I would like to share my photos on-line in albums where I can define access rights. Photos should be browseable and (which I find lacking in all the sites I had a look at) downloadable picture by picture but also as some kind of batch job (or a zip file, or ...) for a complete album in full quality. If this served as some kind of backup for me, that would also be nice. The community aspect of the site is not that important for me. Of course, I'd like to use digikam for upload and download, but other users should be able to download complete albums as easy as possible on all kind of platforms (I guess mostly Windows...). For what I can see from digikam commands, Smugmug seems to be a good option, although downloading a complete album is not part of the official features.... Any recommendations or experience? Do you tried Flickr ? Flickr export is the most avanced tool for digiKam
I don't recommend PicasaWeb, where i can see limited place to host images. But it's my personnal viewpoint of course. I don't know all other web service. Winkflash.com has unlimited hosting and you can set permission on the albums so people can only see what you want them to see. You only have to order one thing a year from them to keep your account. Flickr is great, but you have to pay $25 a year. If you dont pay, you can only display your last 200 or so pictures.

I also found no way to download complete albums except external software, which -- not tested by me -- sometimes work, sometimes don't work. > I don't recommend PicasaWeb, where i can see limited place to host > images. But it's my personnal viewpoint of course. Ok. Thanks for your comment! It's highly customizable.
And you either can manage your gallery by yourself, or buy hosting and services at piwigo.com. You'll find plenty of support on the forums (don't know which is your main language), and I can also provide some advice, would you need some. Marie-Noëlle 2010/7/22 Sebastian Schubert <[hidden email]>
