Installed 2.0.0 -beta6 an XP sp3 machine. All seems fine --- except no
thumbnails. Also not thumbnail database as far as I can see. There is a Digital database - has not extension. When I ask it to rebuild the thumbnails I see a temp "virtual" file being created which then comes an goes but nothing remains after the process is completed. What did I do wrong? 1.7.0 worked fine on Windows and 1.9 seems to work well on Linux Mint. Thanks for any suggestions. No ideas came forward sofar. I have been thinking if it has to do with
not uninstalled digikam 1.7 previous to installing 2.0.0 beta6? Rinus Op 10-06-11 17:01, Tom Rice schreef: > Installed 2.0.0 -beta6 an XP sp3 machine. All seems fine --- except no > thumbnails. Hi,
I had the same issue untill i deleted all databases and tried again with a new folder to scan. Digikam under windows is still very unstable, starts rarely, vrashes at some .tif or with too many pics(>10k). And scanning is dead slow. Still, it is the greatest open source workflow tool under windows. Adobe Bridge is even less stable! Irfan and xnview can't useful rate pics. F-Spot is out, and shotwell was discontinued for windows last month. So, I'd love to see a stable digikam for windows, but I'm not a win-KDE packager. If it is that bad, and it is not your system that causes instabillity,
you should maybe consider installing Ubuntu. For almost everything under windows is a good alternative and itÅ› free. Yeah - I use Linux since '96, but not all my friends yet...

This is strange to see too instability under windows.
I installed current implementation under Win7, with last KDE 4.5.4, and it do not crash a lots. I can work with it to my photo, as under linux, excepted some limitations, as the lack of trash support due to a problem into KDElibs. But it's not new...
I used MSVC 2008 compiler, not Mingw. This last one lack some important implementation, and it's not optimized as M$ compiler. I don't want to promote M$ here, but using MSVC is the best for the moment.
Do you have installed beta6 using my experimental in instaler or do you have compiled it yourself using emerge ?
