No more preview access with a single click. Double click needed.

Photonoxx
Hi,

I recently upgrade my Ubuntu (gnome based) to the 10.10 64bits version.

But since this moment, I can't no more access to the preview of an image
with a signle click and I have to do a double click.

In preview mode (with top thumbnails bar and lateral panels) it's the same
thing to change the picture which is previewed : I have to make an double
click on a thumbnail in the top bar.

On the other hand, from preview mode if I want to go back to the
thumbnails view, just a single click is sufficient...

It happens either with the Digikam 1.4 from repository or with the SVN 1.6
version.

Anybody experienced the same thing ? And do you have any idea of what
cause this ?

Thanks

Re: No more preview access with a single click. Double click needed.

I have a feeling that this may be a deliberate change, I quite like it once I got used to it.  By requiring a double-click to preview an image, selection by Ctrl-click or Shift-click becomes much easier - you no longer have be careful where you click on the image when selecting.

As someone who is still using version 1.0.0, I applaud this change.  I
am always getting a preview by mistake when I only want to move a file
around.  Double clicking would be great!

If it's understandable for the Thumbnail view and avoid some mistake when
selecting multiple files, it's may be less efficient to have the same
thing with the preview display (with the thumbnails on top of the screen).

I think it would be more convenient to switch from a preview to another
one with just a single click in this case.

But it's just my opinion. ;>)

The former is implemented by Qt, while for the latter we access KDE settings
directly.
Usually, Qt uses KDE settings, but that may not always be a case with some
distributions or widget styles.

There is no single line of code in digikam for single vs. double click in the
icon views.

Hi Nicholas,

The problem aside, is everything else working fine , in digikam ?
From my past experience with Ubuntu when i dist Upgraded, Ubuntu
was left in an inconsistent state.

If you have your home partition in a different partition
then, i would suggest reinstalling Ubuntu. I just might solve the
problem.

Kunal
