Hi there,
i have uploaded a hundred photos on a site which has set tons of shitty metadata in my photos. I'd like to remove it, now i auto-host these. Everyone says to go to the menu « Image -> Edit -> Metadata », but that very menu doesn't exist on my soft. I do have « Write Metadata in image » and « Read again metadata from the image » (real-time translation from my french interface, sorry), but both do nothing. I'm running Digikam 4.12 on Mint (yeah, i like when dependencies hurt). Thanks for tips |
Try either Ctrl + Shift + M or Ctrl + M. Also I think you better figure out an exiftool command to get rid of unwanted metadata. Digikam's abilities for that will be limited. Ctrl + M hides Menu bar, with Shift it does nothing. I'll take a look at an exiftool, but it's still strange i don't have the menu entry. Thanks Le 12/09/2017 à 03:28, Andrey Goreev a

Hi You can remove tons of exif medata very quicky with command in console: exiftool -r -overwrite_original -all= /home/user/YourPhotos -- Maderios |
Yeah, i've figured it. I don't want to remove all metadata, just crappy
ones. Very simple, in fact, when you have managed to read the doc : exiftool -overwrite_original "-IPTC:Headline" *.jpg for example. Works great. I am not sure but maybe the packager compiled digiKam without that function... You can try downloading an appimage from digikam.org I have been using pre-release 5.7.0 for a while now. It is rock solid.
