No UTF-8 in Keywords?

Hello everybody,
it seams to me that my keywords are stored in JPG in Latin1 what results in wrong names after loading them (every not wester character replaced with '?'). I've checked in source code and in JPG dump (od -a). Is that true or my misunderstanding ? I found a bug 120241 which talks about UTF-8 in comments, does Keywords differ so much that the same method cannot be used? /Piotr ---------------------------------------------------- "Ucieczka do przodu! Yes this problem will be definitivly resolved in digiKam 0.10.0 to use XMP metadata witch support UTF-8 by default. http://digikam3rdparty.free.fr/Screenshots/digikamKDE4_12.png IPTC and characters encoding is a mess. Nothing is clear. If you use the right IPTC encoding tag to set UTF-8, other photo-management program will lack text information (for ex photoshop). This is why i have delayed the iptc/utf8 problem to study a right fix. I've made a patch ( http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151719 ) which handles non latin1 encoding of iptc keywords. What is interesting in this patch (IMHO) is that is preserves per image encoding what is more flexible than what offers imatch. Maybe you will find this idea attractive. This is working workaround, so I can use correct spelling for my friends names and they are not replaced with '?' while written into image.
