Nikon D700

Antonio Trincone
Is there someone here playing with Digikam and Nikon D700 Raw files which are large as 20-22 Mbyte?
Obviously managing such large files will be influenced by graphic card and RAM and PC used.
Yet I am interested in living experience what about the dimension of your files and digikam response.

all the best

Antonio,

If you have some RAW file samples, I can test on my home computer (I5
2Ghz, 16Gb RAM)

Re: Nikon D700

Philip Johnsson
In reply to this post by Antonio Trincone
I have no experience working with Nikon D700 but Nikon D7000 raw NEF
files and have never had any problems with them. They usually are
17-19 MB but sometimes 21-23 MB if the are some nifty stuff going on
in the pictures. I can process them with no lag what so ever, some
effects take some time to apply but that's how it is. I got a Intel i7
3,4 ghz, 8 GB ram and Nvidia 250gts computer though.

Thank you Gilles for the offer. At the moment I do not have any file but as soon as possible I will try with some of them and could post here my own experience. However the  answer by Philip seems to be quite reassuring to me.

Hi there,

Nowadays I'm not an usual digikam user. But I still follow the up  and
downs of the software. I own a Nikon D700, so I have the files. Gilles,
how many of them would you need and how could I pass them on to you?
would dropbox work?
Let me know if you are interested.

2 items is fine. One taken vertically, one other horizontally.

Fine to use dropbox

Sorry Gilles,

I was far too fast in sending you the invitation, the files were still
going up. It should be ok to try now.

Thanks again,

No problem here to play with your D700 Raw image with digiKam (here next 2.5.0)

You Raw file are not too huge compared to my Sony A65 (24Mpx) : around
20 Mb by file...
