Newer digikam and a heavier footprint

Hello,
I wanted to start off by saying how I enjoy using digikam. I am a gnome user, but my two favorite apps written in Qt are digikam and k3b. I always have used digikam and I considered it lightweight but very mature and useful program. Today I have installed a new version and I noticed that the amount of dependencies has almost tripled since the last install I did. I always though of digikam as not "kde photo management" but "Linux photo Management". I understand that new features need to be added but could developers consider digikam as gnome/kde application. I am using it now but if the amount of dependencies will triple again then soon I will have to install whole KDE environment in order to use digikam. Why digikam is using graphicsmagick-imagemagick-compat instead of what is mostly installed on a system imagemagick. I think that digikam is great, but if it will continue at this expansion of dependencies then I am not sure where that will leave me? I would like to thank everybody who works on digikam for having it, and I would like to change your mind and think of digikam as 60% kde users and 40% gnome users. If having digikam lite and regular digikam is a way to do it then maybe digikam developers should consider such route. It seems as of October 1st Debian "apt" system is installing recommended packages instead of required packages only. With this change digikam has tripled its list of packages. I have contacted debian maintainer of digikam to see if he can move some of these to "suggested" packages. Thanks !!
