MySQL DB with digikam 4.4 and newer

Guido von Thun

Hi,

I had digikam 3.x work (mostly) perfect with MySQL database.

When updateing to digikam 4.4 I found out that some of the albums are
not shown in the tree allthough the thumbnails are shown correctly.

Hoping this would be corrected in digikam 4.6 I found out that there is
no more possibility to attach to MySQL! The only option was SQLight.

So I would rather prefer to use a digikam 3.5 with MySQL than a later
version with SQLight.
Now my question is: Will there be a MySQL Version for 4.x and if not
where can I download a RPM for Version 3.5 if there will be no MySQL
Version?

My OS are OpenSUSE 13.1 and 13.2.

Thanks for Infos.

Re: MySQL DB with digikam 4.4 and newer

Robert Zeller
Dear developers,

I have a similar question:
I am using digikam 4.7 compiled by myself on openSUSE 13.2. The
distributed version of the source code (as is) only compiles with sqlite
support . There seems to be the possibility also to compile DK with
mysql enabled.
1. What do I have to change in the compile settings of DK to enable
mysql support?
2. Is it safe now, to use mysql instead of sqlite?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Robert Zeller

There is a cmake option to enable MySQL support

no. Nothing have changed about MySQL (no maintainer). This is why
option exist and is disabled by default.

Could you give me a tip what the "cmake option" is...

Option are defined in digiKam core here :

https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/graphics/digikam/repository/revisions/master/entry/CMakeLists.txt#L17

And can be used as in this config shell script :

https://projects.kde.org/projects/extragear/graphics/digikam/digikam-software-compilation/repository/revisions/master/entry/bootstrap.linux#L47
