My laptop is broken

Hi all,

 

My old laptop have been definitivly broken this week end. I cannot restart it duing an hardware failure...

 

Today, i have buy a new Toshiba Satellite laptop but it work under Win Vista of course...

 

Mandriva 2007 is now installed but the win modem is not reconized (:=(

 

of course, i need to backport the old computer hdd content, but it wil be an hazardous work.

 

In fact, i cannot work on digiKam this week. I will trying to follow my mail but no more... There is no IRC client under Vista (:=))))) In others words, i love the window$ world...

 

Marcel, Lure, Paco, Achim, Gerhard, you will work alone to finalize 0.9.1 release. Sorry.

I will work, Gilles. I wanted to release rc2 this morning, but me too, I had
to fight a 64bit Acer machine with no NIC driver module. Now I compiled a
custom kernel 2.6.20.1 and it works (Marvell Yukon 88E8056 4364). So rc2 will
follow tomorrow.

Ok we will do it...
If you have some priorities of what you think should be fixed before the final
release, please send it. I may have forgotten mails and missed some problems
in the recent weeks.
I will not be at home Friday-Sunday, so bugs will only be fixed by me until
Thursday ;-)

Did you try scanModem
(http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz)
- well, I am sure you did ;-) to find out which modem is
behind there?

In reply to Marcels remark (sorry, I deleted that e-mail last night,
so this messes up the thread-order a little bit):

I think there is one issue which could quickly be improved:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140227
The "quick improvement" is to re-order the menu, as
originally suggested by Daniel.
(Implementing the rest might be more work though)

Did you try scanModem
(http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz)
- well, I am sure you did ;-) to find out which modem is

yes i know. But Vista give me enough informations as well (i love win32)

 

My modem is a software modem using the sound card to emulate it. the sound card is an "ATI SB450 HDA Audio" witch is not yet supported as well like a sound card under Alsa drivers (see in google than it's experimental in Alsa source code)

 

About the pseudo win-modem it's use an patent algorithm software witch cannot be use in opensource world as well.

So you bought the wrong PC :p

 

no because all others part work fine under linux. Audio drivers will be available later with next Alsa release
