It's a tedious subject : how to anage a big project as to port KDE under windows with a small team..." Presuming the Windows KDE team can keep things more current (it's now 9 months since an update for digiKam), they load the most basic installation with dozens of programs that I have no need for, nor probably do most other Windows users. After installing the Windows compiled version I deleted my KDE folder and then cleaned the registry. It took about twelve minutes just to DELETE files! To be honest, I don't know why any Windows user wants or needs KDE (except for digiKam, of course!) It is a huge resource user, even in the compiled version. So far I don't use much in the digiKam feature set other than basic corrections and tagging. But I can tell you that subjectively the compiled for Windows version is MUCH more stable than the KDE for Windows versions. I can also let it sit unused for a couple of days now. Upon clicking in the taskbar, it does take a minute to wake up, but then there it is, rested and ready to go. BTW, didn't I read that digiKam is now able to read 48 bit images? I don't seem to have that ability. Did I make that up? Thanks to the team for a great product!
