Since Digikam moved over to QT printing support it has not (and still is
not) working correctly. The issue is that not all the correct page sizes for a printer show or are selectable. Now I realise that this is not Digikams fault but it does prevent me using it for printing photos which is something I always used to do. There is a bug report with QT at https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-58733 opened back in February but there has been no movement on the issue at all. This issue not only affects Digikam but every application which uses QT Printing Support Can I ask anyone who uses Digikam to print (or any other applications which uses QT) to please get an id for QT and vote for this issue. I think this is the only way to get any movement on the problem if more folks vote for it to get fixed. Stuart -- Website: http://www.stella-maris.org.uk or: http://www.broadstairs.org |
Hi,
I currently to rewrite the old PrintAsiistant kipi tool in digiKam core as a Print Creator tool. The implementation was bugous. I fixed a lots of problem inside. This implementation provide a way to print through Gimp printing engine. Did you try this ? If Gimp work fine, i will provide you a 5.7.0 pre version as Linux Bundle including my last works on this tool (not available any more as a kipi tool). If you can do that I will of course test it. I currently run openSUSE Tumbleweed and Leap 42.2 so I can test on either or both. I have tried to print to Gimp using 5.6 (package from openSUSE) with the Print Assistant and although I am still unable to select the correct print size (5x7 inches which does not even show up in the list) I have selected postcard and then gone ahead but it fails to open Gimp, however if I right click on the photo and open with Gimp that opens just fine. Next I downloaded 5.7 appimage but the same issue currently exists in that it fails to open Gimp from Print Assistant. The same issue is apparent over paper sizes as well. Now I'm not sure if the 5.7 appimage is the one with your latest version of the Assistant or not, it was downloaded today. I am not sure what you are hoping to achieve by doing Print to Gimp, since opening the image with Gimp allows access to printing anyway, or are you attempting to just use Gimp printing support without opening the full program? No the AppImage 5.7 is not updated with all my last changes in PrintCreator. I will try to run AppImage build machine this week end. > > I am not sure what you are hoping to achieve by doing Print to Gimp, since > opening the image with Gimp allows access to printing anyway, or are you > attempting to just use Gimp printing support without opening the full > program? It generate the iamge and open files to Gimp. The printing system from Gimp is used instead Qt5 print module. Gilles Caulier |
