I have just installed DigiKam 1.0.0-beta5 from the Ubuntu repositories
(version 9.10). Everything seems to be working OK except for the metadata handling. I have been trying to set up a metadata template (Settings > Configure DigiKam > Templates) and find that I cannot enter the Copyright, Right usage terms, and Instruction fields. They accept data but do not save it. That is, when I close the window and then reopen it, there is nothing is those fields. In addition, when I select "Write metadata to image" nothing happens. I would have thought that I would be asked which template and then the metadata from that template would be added/updated to the image. Though I may be wrong. That's not the first time. Any suggestions? Thanks. Tom. _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
Had similar problem when updating from 0.9 to 1.0. Then the problem was file permissions. Check file permissions or, more pragmatic, check if it works when running digikam as root.

Thanks for that. I tried that with no success. I think I will submit
this as a bug as those 2 fields are completely ignored. Thanks... Tom. On Sun, Nov 1, 2009 at 7:52 AM, <[hidden email]> wrote: > Had similar problem when updating from 0.9 to 1.0. Thanks for the suggestion. After much fussing and thrashing about,
pounding the computer and cursing the computer gods, I got the latest compiled and installed. And yes, I can now properly update the metadata templates. However, I cannot find any option to apply a template to a photo, or perhaps a range of photos. Am I improperly assuming the intent of the templates, or might I have missed an option in the build of the program. Thanks... Tom. Forget it - I just found the area to work with the photo's metadata.
And yes, I can apply a selected template to one or a range of photos. Brilliant! Great work! My life is complete, the world is as it should be, and God is in His (Her?) heaven. Thanks... Tom.
