Merge two databases

skandal
Hello digikam-users,

until today I had two independent digikam installations. Now I want to merge the two databases (digikam4.db) with all captions, ratings, etc.

I couldn't find a simple way to do this. Do you have any suggestions?

Best regards,
Lutz

One alternative is let one DB write all metadata to files, then re-scan the whole collection from other DB.

Hello Brano,

this leads me to the question I have for long time already:
What data are really stored in the database?

Really only the meta-data you can write to file?
That would basically be only tags and comments. Maybe also ratings.

Also the custom-thumbnails, which are in the tree of the album-view?
What about the digiKam timestamps?
Of which I am still not sure what they really are:

cheers

Yes, all album / tag icons are stored in the database (and only in the
database)

This seems to be creation / modification date stored in the database. They
will be re-read of course.
