Mac issue - reloading photos

Kelly Ann Perkins

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone using digiKam on a Mac has had issues with images reloading frequently. I have students tagging wildlife images to species and in larger folders for the Mac but not the PC users, the images will sometimes disappear except for about 50 photos and reload, or they have to exit the program to get them to reload. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution?

Thanks,

-Kelly

Disappear from where ? Thumbnails, preview, editor canvas ?

Which digiKam version do you use ?

This can be a problem with open files limit from MacOS. Here with recent OSX and using digiKam 5.x, the problem is no reproducible anymore (MacBook pro 2012)

The photos disappear from both the thumbnails and preview and they need to be reloaded. MacBook Pro 10.12.1 Sierra. DigiKam version is the latest 5.3. I have another Mac user having the same issue.

What do you use as database ? sqlite or Mysql ?

Which kind of photo type ? JPEG, RAW, PNG, TIFF, etc... ?

How many files are managed by collection ? Look in Help/DB stat dialog.

Do you use special settings, as XMP sidecar, Color management, Versionning ?

Can you capture the debug trace when you run digiKam from a console. It explained here :
