Lost my tag associations after upgrade to digikam 0.10

markus.rohner-beerli@bluewin.ch
Because my openSUSE 11.0 installation with digikam 0.9 (or so, certainly a digikam3.db) didn't start anymore, I decided
to install openSUSE 11.2. That meant that I had do upgrade to digikam 0.10. When I started digikam 0.10 the first time
I had to give to root folder of my pictures. I did it wrong an my albums and tags weren't there. I corrected the path
(so that it pointed to the correct, old root folder) and removed the digikam4.db. To be on the safe side, I copied the
old digikam3.db to the new, incorrect root folder too.

When I now start up digikam my albums, searches and tag structure are there. BUT none of my pictures have any tags
accociated.

I read that the digikam database is automatically upgraded. In my case obviously not correct.

Is there a way to manually upgrade the database?

How can I restore the tag associations of my pictures?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Markus

Had similar problem recently. Assuming your album structure is unchanged and
your old db-file is kept unchanged you can try this.

In the 0.10 version you now have to specify two paths. One for the album
folders and one for the database. If the albums are ok then first put your old
databaseX.db file in a separate directory say ~/Pic, then change the digikam
database path to ~/Pic. Digikam should now ask you if you want to use the
current db or create a new or similar. Chose to keep the current (the db-file
in ~/Pic). If all your 0.9 tags and comments are still there and you have not
changed your album structure completely I think you should be back where you
started.

Solved: Lost my tag associations after upgrade to digikam 0.10

markus.rohner-beerli@bluewin.ch
Hi Sven

Thanks a lot for giving me the hints.
For some reason digikam had a new album path. I changed it, but after
the next start it was wrong again.
So I had to change the album path in digikamrc file
(~/.kde4/share/config) to the "old" path and then everything worked fine.
