Hi all,
I know I'm doing something stupid here. I properly compiled 0.9.0-beta3, but I'm getting a linker error compiling 0.9.0-rc1. /usr/lib/libexiv2.so is not getting found, which makes sense, since I've compiled and installed it in /usr/local. It is version 0.11. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here is my configure command: ./configure --with-extra-libs=/usr/local/lib --with-extra-includes=/usr/local/include I also forgot to mention that I have /usr/local/lib in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH It looks like it should work, as the link step has the appropriate library include path: make[3]: Entering directory `/home/local_pwaldo/src/graphics/digikam/0.9.0-rc1/digikam-0.9.0-rc1/digikam/digikam' /bin/sh ../../libtool --silent --tag=CXX --mode=link g++ -Wno-long-long -Wundef -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -O2 -Wformat-security -Wmissing-format-attribute -Wno-non-virtual-dtor -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common -DQT_CLEAN_NAMESPACE -DQT_NO_ASCII_CAST -DQT_NO_STL -DQT_NO_COMPAT -DQT_NO_TRANSLATION -DQT_CLEAN_NAMESPACE -o libdigikam.la -rpath /usr/lib -L/usr/lib -L/usr/share/qt3/lib -L/usr/X11R6/lib -L/usr/local/lib -R /usr/lib -R /usr/lib -R /usr/share/qt3/lib -R /usr/X11R6/lib -R /usr/local/lib -no-undefined -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,--allow-shlib-undefined firstrun.lo albummanager.lo album.lo albumitemhandler.lo albumdb.lo albumdb_sqlite2.lo albumlister.lo dragobjects.lo iconview.lo icongroupitem.lo iconitem.lo digikamapp.lo digikamview.lo albumfolderview.lo albumwidgetstack.lo albumiconview.lo albumicongroupitem.lo albumiconitem.lo albumpropsedit.lo albumsettings.lo cameralist.lo cameratype.lo cameradragobject.lo kipiinterface.lo tagcreatedlg.lo albumfiletip.lo tagspopupmenu.lo syncjob.lo albumhistory.lo scanlib.lo imageinfo.lo imagepreviewwidget.lo imagepreviewjob.lo datefolderview.lo pixmapmanager.lo tagfolderview.lo tagfilterview.lo monthwidget.lo searchfolderview.lo dio.lo searchresultsview.lo searchresultsitem.lo searchquickdialog.lo searchadvanceddialog.lo searchwidgets.lo kdateedit.lo kdatetimeedit.lo kdatepickerpopup.lo folderview.lo folderitem.lo upgradedb_sqlite2tosqlite3.lo ratingwidget.lo digikamfirstrun.lo imageattributeswatch.lo albumthumbnailloader.lo batchthumbsgenerator.lo dcopiface.lo dcopiface_skel.lo -lkio -lsqlite3 -lkabc -lkipi -lkutils -lexiv2 ../../digikam/sqlite/libsqlite.la ../../digikam/libs/thumbbar/libthumbbar.la ../../digikam/libs/themeengine/libthemeengine.la ../../digikam/libs/widgets/libwidgets.la ../../digikam/libs/dialogs/libdialog.la ../../digikam/libs/jpegutils/libjpegutils.la ../../digikam/libs/imageproperties/libimagepropertiesdigikam.la ../../digikam/libs/threadimageio/libthreadimageio.la ../../digikam/utilities/cameragui/libcameragui.la ../../digikam/utilities/imageeditor/canvas/libdimgcanvas.la ../../digikam/utilities/imageeditor/editor/libdimgeditor.la ../../digikam/utilities/splashscreen/libsplashscreen.la ../../digikam/utilities/setup/libsetup.la g++: /usr/lib/libexiv2.so: No such file or directory Notice that the command contains "-L/usr/local/lib" and I do have exiv2 there: $ ls -l /usr/local/lib/libexiv2.* -rw-r--r-- 1 pwaldo pwaldo 7086898 2006-10-26 08:30 /usr/local/lib/libexiv2.a -rw-r--r-- 1 pwaldo pwaldo 820 2006-10-26 08:30 /usr/local/lib/libexiv2.la lrwxrwxrwx 1 pwaldo pwaldo 16 2006-10-26 08:30 /usr/local/lib/libexiv2.so -> libexiv2-0.11.so I'm dying to try the new digikam, but I'm stuck! :-( Paul _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

No idea if that could help ... Best, Arnd _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |

The above suggestion didn't work, but got me to thinking: $ ldconfig -p|grep exiv libexiv2-0.7.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libexiv2-0.7.so $ dpkg -S /usr/lib/libexiv2-0.7.so libexiv2c2a: /usr/lib/libexiv2-0.7.so $ sudo apt-get remove libexiv2c2a [...] $ sudo ldconfig Make was then successful! It was user error :-). Thanks to all for the help and suggestions. Now to play with RC1!!
