Installing from tarball failing on installed software

Dotan Cohen
I'm trying to install the lates 0.9.0 tarball on Kubuntu. However,
it's complaining that libkipi and exiv2 are not installed. libkipi is
installed as libkipi0 as that's how it is in [k]ubunut, and exiv2 is,
well, exiv2. What must I do to kontinue installing?

Do you have the header files for exiv2 installed
(should be in some exiv2-dev* package)?
(also: which version of exiv2 is it?)

Best, Arnd

dotancohen@ubuntu:~$ locate exiv2
dotancohen@ubuntu:~$ exiv2 -V
Exiv2 0.10

Hello,
 You probably need Exiv2 0.12

To be able to install digikam 0.9 (mandriva 2007), I have installed:
imlib2-1.3.0.tar.gz
libkipi-0.1.5.tar.bz2
digikamimageplugins-0.9.0.tar.bz2
kipi-plugins-0.1.3-beta1.tar.bz2
 libxml2-2.6.27.tar.gz
exiv2-0.12.tar.gz
 libkexif-0.2.5.tar.bz2
 libxslt-1.1.9.tar.gz
An I have got some problem with pkgconfig files which was
on /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig but was searched on /usr/lib/pkgconfig
Bonsoir

Mercy, Michel. After installing exiv2 0.12 from it's own tarball
Digikam 0.9.0 installed. I should have just done that from the
beginning. Thanks.
