Hi all,
I just updated my Kubuntu 16.04 installation with KDE 5.8.5 from the backports ppa. Afterwards I wanted to update digikam as well and added the philip5 ppa. On trying to install digikam5 I get the following error message: apt-get install digikam5 Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: digikam5 : Depends: libmarblewidget-qt5-23 (>= 4:15.12.0) but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. Are the packages provided by the philip5 ppa currently not be usable with KDE 5.8.5? Thanks for any help Kai sources.list (3K) Download Attachment philip5-ubuntu-extra-xenial.list (180 bytes) Download Attachment |
This is a question for Philips, who is in this room... From my side, until Philips respond, you can try last digiKam version through the AppImage Linux Bundle, which work fine under Unbuntu. This error is because of updated version of KDE have been released in some sources from what standard official Ubuntu 16.04 comes with. So if you use the updated version of KDE you need a rebuild version of Digikam 5.x for it (I think Linux Mint have the new KDE version backported). This will be solved with my "kubuntu-backports" PPA for users that have the updated version of KDE and the users that still use the standard ubuntu 16.04 KDE use my "extra" PPA as before. Note that you always need my "extra" PPA as it contains other dependent packages for digikam to work. "kubuntu-backports" PPA will only have some packages rebuilt. I'm just waiting for official digikam 5.4 tarball to be released to upload the different builds of digikam 5.4 for the different versions of KDE but right now you have to wait a bit for the fix.On Sun, Jan 8, 2017 at 12:48 PM, Kai Benndorf <[hidden email]> wrote: Hi all, |

I just uploaded digikam 5.4 packages built (building at the moment) for users of ubuntu 16.04 (or derivative distros) with updated version of KDE to KDE 5.8.x instead of the standard KDE 5.5.5 that ubuntu 16.04 comes with. IF you have installed and use the updated KDE 5.8.x on your system then add my "kubuntu-backports" PPA so you use BOTH my "extra" PPA AND my "kubuntu-backports" PPA. IF you use the standard KDE 5.5.x that ubuntu 16.04 comes with then ONLY use my "extra" PPA as before. This only apply to ubuntu 16.04 and not users of ubuntu 16.10 that keep on using ONLY my "extra" PPA. The "kubuntu-backports" PPA only contains rebuilds of packages in my "extra" PPA for other versions of KDE but "kubuntu-backports" PPA can NOT be used alone. /PhilipOn Mon, Jan 9, 2017 at 9:33 AM, Kai Benndorf <[hidden email]> wrote: Thanks Philip, |
Thanks a lot Philip for the extra service providing digikam 5.4 packages

Thanks Philip,
I just installed digikam 5.4 from your extra and kubuntu-backports ppa without problems.
