I apologize if this is a rather basic question, but I'm a brand new digiKam
user and I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to make this work. I'm basically having two issues related to IPTC data. I want to have certain default IPTC data applied to all images that I import into digiKam. I thought that the Identity and Metadata settings options would do this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. I filled in all fields under Identity, and checked all options under Metadata (with the exception of the image ratings option, but when I create a new album and add photos none of this information is applied. What am I doing wrong? Am I just misunderstanding these options? Second, I'd like to manually edit, modify IPTC data for certain photos. However, I cannot find any way to do this through digiKam. I'm assuming I'm just overlooking something, but I've dug through everything I could think of several times. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? Or is it really not possible? Thanks! -- Jared _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users signature.asc (196 bytes) Download Attachment |

You need the kipi-plugins installed, then you find the editor under the 'Images' menu. I do have kipi-plugins installed, but I don't see any plugins related to metadata, nor do I see anything related to metadata under the Image menu. However, it looks like I'm using an older version of kipi-plugins. I'm upgrading to the new version now to test it out. As stated above, I have all of the options under "IPTS Actions" enabled, but nothing gets applied. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? I forgot to answer your question about the image format. These are JPEG images, taken with a Canon PowerShot S3 IS and transferred via SD card. I can't think of any reason why this format would not be supported. -- Jared _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users signature.asc (196 bytes) Download Attachment |

For my svn-version I use the scripts from digikam website ("Install digiKam in your Home Directory"). kipiplugin_metadataedit.la and kipiplugin_metadataedit.so are in my /home/daniel/digikamSVN/lib/kde3 and are up-to-date - just that 0.9.3svn ignores them. How can I make my svn version use the latest kipi-plugins? When you launch digikam-0.9.3svn, does env know that the kdelib is $HOME/digikamSVN? Otherwise it will look in the stander place and find Suse. > > For my svn-version I use the scripts from digikam website ("Install digiKam > in your Home Directory"). kipiplugin_metadataedit.la and > kipiplugin_metadataedit.so are in my /home/daniel/digikamSVN/lib/kde3 and > are up-to-date - just that 0.9.3svn ignores them. > > How can I make my svn version use the latest kipi-plugins? > > Daniel You can compile it quite like digikam (look at http://www.digikam.org/?q=download/svn, but checkout from .../home/kde/branches/extragear/kde3/libs instead of trunk). But before compiling the kipis you need to compile libdcraw, then libkexiv2, in that order. In the camera GUI you also need to set the 'On-the-fly operations', maybe you're missing those. > I forgot to answer your question about the image format. That's correct, jpeg is best supported by exiv2. I'm actually not doing this through the camera GUI. gphoto2 has a bug in it that prevents listing/transfer of more than 1024 images, and I have about 1600 on my SD card. So, I popped the card into a USB card reader and used the "Add Images" button to import the photos. Could this cause the failure to apply IPTC? If so, why would camera transfers vs. picture imports be treated differently in this respect? Is there any way that I can apply the default IPTC data to all images post import? Thanks again for the assistance. -- Jared _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users signature.asc (196 bytes) Download Attachment |
