IPTC info you edit with kipi-plugin. It is accessible from Digikam menu
Image->Metadata->Edit IPTC. In Image Editor you can only view metadata.

Looks like you didn't enable kipi-plugins. Check in Settings->configure:
Digikam->Kipi plugins if all boxes are checked.

Franck : libkipi is just the interface to talk between digiKAm and plugins.
There is no plugins here.

There is no kipi-plugins installed on your computer. Here you see
DigikamImagePlugins tools only (witch are dedicaced to image editor not main
interface).

Please compile and install kipi-plugins from svn or the first 0.1.3-beta1
tarball :

OK thanks.

I have installed kipi-plugins.

If i fill a caption "emma" for example, the modification is not saved
when i look at IPTC metadata.

Did you push the 'Apply Changes' button after writing the comment, or did you
go to the next image and come back? Because those two actions save the
comment into the IPTC fields.

Which kipi-version do I need for this?

I have 0.1.2-1ubuntu2 and Image->Metadata (or whatever this could be in
german) is not there.

If I need the 0.1.3-beta Version, are there packages for Kubuntu Edgy Eft
somewhere?

digiKam can't do this, it is a setting certainly fixed by the folder you
dowload to. Check out with normal Linux tools your access rights in your
