I'd like to help with 1 bugfix and 1 feature

J. Michael Caine
I've never yet contributed to digikam source.

I might be interested in helping with one bugfix and one feature; thought I'd start here to confirm that another is not already planning on adopting either.

Bugfix: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=244258 (and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=267571 may be the same(?)).  I use Debian squeeze so have a slightly old version, but it appears that the bug-tracker indicates that it's still a problem upstream.

Feature: I'd like to be able to start a slideshow from the command-line, with a reasonable set of cli options, such as transitions (the OpenGL Ken Burns one is the one I'm interested in).  Additionally, I'll want a --display option, to specify :0.1 or whatever alternate display.  A --fullscreen kind of option, too, of course.  Finally, I'd like an option that results in the slide-show's picking up new images that are dumped into an album's directory.  This will be used to progressively, infinitely, and randomly show photos on a separate display as they populate a directory.

Does this sound reasonable, useful, valuable?  Would such updates be acceptable to the community?

yes, it fine if bugs are fixed by priority (:=)))

To create a stand alone version of the plugin, look how i do with DNG converter or ExpoBlending tools. Kipiinterface is null, so pointer must be checked everywhere and rules written accordingly in code.

Note that ImageList widget used in Advanced Slideshow tool is already patched to support a null kipi interface.

Your code must be a patch against git master (next 2.0.0 release).

Ah, right.  Well, it looks like both 244258 and 267571 are low-prio considerations, so I'll have to consider how to proceed; perhaps I'll have to "do time" working on a higher one or two to earn-in working on one of these?  Or somehow lobby for their prio to be increased?

Thank you also for the other tips --  very helpful for getting me started.  I'm a bit slow due to very very limited time per week, so we'll see how it unfolds.  What I'd try to do is not start any one given task in earnest until I can commit relatively significant time and finish in a timely fashion.

Coding to 2.0 is what I'd expect.

Thanks again.

No. if you fell better to work on this it's not a problem. All bugs fixed are fine.

Anyway, nobody maintain Advanced Slideshow since one year now. All help are welcome. If you find a way to close others bugfixes, it will be great.

Ok. Don't forget that we will release RC soon and final at end of July.

Release plan is here :

Ok, if it doesn't look like I can do it by then, I'll wait for the
next.  Don't want to be a bothersome noob at a critical release phase.
