thanks for checking and sharing this information.

This once more makes me think that maybe the huge KDE SC updates are
not that perfect for small library updates like this one.
I don't know when this feature landed in digiKam but I started my
tests with v2.6.0 which has been announced 2012-06-07. KDE v4.9.0 has
been released 2012-08-01. So that at least 2 month of having KDE
releases that ship a buggy libkexiv2.
I really don't want to offend someone as I really appreciate the work
of both digiKam and KDE developers but maybe releasing or packaging
should be rethought.

One thing digiKam could do is to update its dependencies documentation
and warn if it is used with too old libraries.

Best regards,
Andreas

We could have backported to the 4.8 branch. For one, I wasn't aware anymore of
that complication, and, it can be a lot of additional work.

Hello,

just want to say that versioning in digikam 2.9.0 works here after KDE
4.9.3 got stable in Gentoo.
Thanks for your help!

But now I have another question:
Is there an easy way to view one of the older versions of an image?
Something like the "open file" action in the Image Editor's versioning sidebar?

Best regards,
Andreas

On my setup, when in album view, the right edge pane has a "Versioning"
tab that displays the complete image history.
I don't recall if I had to do some custom setting to get that to appear.

Re: How to use versioning?

Andreas Mair-2
Hello,

yes, I know the "Versioning" tab and how to open it.
My question was that I'd like to know how I can *view* an image in
that list in digikam's preview/content area.

Best regards,
Andreas

Click the small icon that appears in the corner of the image item in the list, it has a tooltip saying "[show|hide] item permanently"

Re: How to use versioning?

Andreas Mair-2
Hello,

I know that small icon, but that's not what want.

I'm looking for something like the "open file" action in the Image
Editor's versioning sidebar.

Best regards,
Andreas
