How to select existing digikam data base on new os install

ralphl
I am doing a new install of xubuntu 22.04 in a new partition. I have digikam installed as an appimage. I have a large existing database on separate shared_data partition. Previously this database was selected using symbolic links on an old xubuntu 18.04 os only partition. When I try to select the existing database in shared_data partition (mounted) using Settings>Configure Digikam, I get the message that the database is there, but on the xubuntu 18.04 partition and it must be accessed through the xubuntu 18.04 partition. How can I setup digikam to access the database directly on shared_data (without using xubuntu 18.04 partition)?????
