Hi all,
regarding my previsous comment about migrating from win environment to linux digiKam - is there a way how to force digiKam NOT to work with IPTC? Especially not to write anything into IPTC? If I have photos without IPTC (only XMP) and I need to have these photos also without IPTC after editing metadata in digiKam - is there any way how to do it? I cannot find any option whether digiKam should write IPTC. Thanks a lot, Martin _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
To forget only IPTC... no. You can only set digiKam to not write
anything in metadata, including Exif, Iptc, Xmp and Makernote. But metadata manager is limited. Look in setup/metadata page for details. That's not a good message for me. It looks that digiKam is only for english speaking users, isn't it?
If I put a national characters into caption, it is properly written into XMP (UTF-8), but digiKam writes also IPTC and as it doesn't support (and will not: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132244) UTF-8 IPTC, it writes mostly only '?' characters (instead of national ones). If I open the photo with another software, it always primary takes metadata from IPTC (if exists) and my IPTC is broken by digiKam. So it would be nice if digiKam give me a possibility not to write IPTC, if it cannot handle it with national characters. Is there any other way how to enter national characters into metadata in digiKam? Am I missing someting? But wasn't there an option in an older version, where you were able to specify which of XMP/IPTC/EXIF to write to? Excepted some specific tag, as orientation located in Exif, all information are registered at more than one metadata container. Then right-click / Open with ... / your_script would do the trick. The script could also automatically start the other software with the image name as parameter. However, if you often switch between digiKam and the other software or if the other software works with collections (albums), this would probably prove as burdensome... P.S. Do not forget, that if you change the metadata in the image with the other software, then you need to re-read metadata from image in digiKam to update the database. regards, Milan -- http://www.milan-knizek.net/ _______________________________________________ Digikam-users mailing list [hidden email] https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/digikam-users |
